With Project Elixir, ODTH First Class Logistics has transformed its site in Rumst into a high-performance, automated and sustainable logistics platform. What started as an infrastructure and automation project evolved into a broader strategic transformation impacting every aspect of the organization: operations, IT, HR and sustainability.
Within an active warehouse and without any operational downtime, ODTH implemented a shuttle-based ASRS system (Movu Atlas), controlled by the Movu OPS warehouse execution system and fully integrated with SAP. Thanks to a phased implementation, extensive reuse of existing infrastructure and close collaboration with trusted technology partners, the project significantly increased storage capacity while also enhancing flexibility, safety and scalability across operations.
Project Elixir demonstrates that innovation in logistics can go hand in hand with people-centric entrepreneurship and sustainable decision-making — not only today, but with a clear vision for the next twenty years.
The five key benefits for our customers
Increased capacity without additional space
High-density storage enables ODTH to offer approximately 31,000 pallet locations, representing 10,000 additional positions within the same building footprint.
Faster and more flexible material flows
The ASRS supports storage, staging, cross-docking and direct transfers to picking and dispatch zones, adapting seamlessly to fluctuating volumes and service levels.
Reliable service, even during transformation
The entire automation project was executed in a live operational environment, without disrupting ongoing customer operations.
Full traceability and real-time visibility
The deep SAP–WES integration provides real-time inventory status, planning and error-free execution.
Sustainable logistics with a reduced environmental footprint
The reuse of infrastructure and energy-efficient processes resulted in more than 680 tonnes of avoided CO₂ emissions.
Conclusion
With Project Elixir, ODTH invests not only in technology, but in a future-proof logistics ecosystem. The result is a scalable, flexible and sustainable platform that grows alongside the evolving needs of customers in FMCG and other sectors — powered by strong in-house expertise and long-standing partnerships.
